Punk Rock

London’s punk rock roots definitely plays a role in their street style. During LFW ’17, We saw a lot of punk references, which seemed to be more inspired by 90s grunge than traditional punk. Brooches attached to denim jackets, chunky ankle boots, and chunky bangles all helped evoke a rock and roll vibe.

What’s In Store? 5 Must-Have Items On Sale Now And Perfect For Spring

With the colder temps, spring seems so far away. However, there is no better time than now to freshen up your wardrobe by taking advantage of the end of the season sales. By splurging a little now, you will save later and put that money toward something else.

I decided to make things a little easy for you and went to several brands to select the top fashion pieces that will continue to shine in the next season. I collected five trends that promise to make the transition from winter to spring smooth and stylish .

Racing stripes – Zara

The athleisure trend for Spring 2017 is all about stripes in any size and colour, with a strong primary-hued stripes and racing flag details. Be sure to make a statement with standout colourful stripes and don’t hesitate to mix and match different stripes together. The look above features a sweater and pants from Zara and is the perfect example of how to combine different size of stripes in a classy way while maintaining a sporty vibe.

Ruffles on ruffles, Cos Stores

I hope you aren’t fed up with ruffles because this trend isn’t leaving anytime soon. Frills and ruffles were all over the runways. And this spring, it will be more about layers that create a more voluminous statement.

Of course it doesn’t mean that you need to go crazy with ruffles, but I do believe that a little extra fabric here and there never hurt anybody. With this thought I went straight to COS and chose some items from the sales department. These shoulders gave me an edgy look, while the mini skirt with the cute frills on the side brought out my feminine side.

Back to the 80’s, Aritzia

These Aritzia asymmetrical pants in khaki beige are a modern version of the 80s high waisted trousers with a roomy fit on top, tapered at the ankle. The pants made my smile even wider when I found out that they are on sale. It’s the perfect mix of easy to wear item and chic. I paired it with vintage inspired blouse to add a luxurious touch.

Fifty shades of pink, Topshop

Get ready to reveal your girly side, because this sweet colour is going to be everywhere this upcoming spring. The good news is that any shade of pink will work. From baby pink to bubblegum hue or even fuchsia, simply pick the shade that works best for you.

I decided to take the trend one step further by creating an outfit in head to toe pink. I picked up a sweater, coat and skirt from Topshop‘s sale section. There is something about this rosy hue that presents strong sense of femininity and boldness.

Flower Power, Club Monaco

This trend has caught my eyes because it’s like a little note from spring saying “don’t lose hope, the blooming season is on the way”. Florals are often a staple print during spring and summer, and this upcoming season will be no different. Don’t be afraid to cover yourself with everything from traditional to abstract floral prints — the louder the better.

My artistic essence came to life in a form of pants and dress I found in Club Monaco at an amazing sale price. This allover floral print dress will no doubt take you from winter to spring with minimum effort while giving you maximum style!

One month One style: Falling For Ruffles

It’s the frilly season, so for the month of October, we chose to feature ruffles. From the catwalks, red carpets, and the streets, this trend is everywhere. Designers like Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Chloe, Fendi, and Miu Miu have already showed their fashion-forward interpretation of the childlike details with voluminous and architectural ruffles. Ruffled details can add drama to your fall / winter wardrobe. We love the fact that it comes in any shape or size, in clean lines or disarrayed cuts this season. The flirty details can highlight your features, add volume to a boyish figure, and also boost your curves, giving it an ultra feminine effect. It only makes sense that we are feeling the urge to add some ruffles into our lives.

Here are six bold ways to wear ruffles that can easily be worn during the month of October.

Ring my bell

The new way to wear ruffles for fall is on your sleeves- it’s a statement piece that screams drama. The exaggerated ruffle details are having their moment- the bigger the better! Deconstructed ruffles and extra large flared sleeves have been presented on the runways in all different ways, but all with the same goal: standing out.

Mini flirt

Get ready to embrace your femininity in a flirty way. Ruffle details can sweeten up a mini skirt when they are attached to the bottom of the garment. The trick of pulling off this look without looking too girly is to transform it into something more refined. Consider adding a contrast element,  such as a boyfriend blazer or slouchy top that will bring your sophistication to an all-new level.

It’s on my shoulders

Fun and exaggerated ruffles add edginess to not only a classic blouse, but also a knitted cape and sweater. Gucci AW16 collection totally proved this look is anything but boring. Other designers like John Galliano and Chanel took the traditional shoulder top and upgraded it with some ruffle details. Since the ruffles act as their own accessories, no jewels are needed in this case.

Not ordinary pants

While we could not live without our favourite classic black pants, we must admit it, we all need at least one pair of unique trousers that will make our appearance during the chilly days of October, cooler. We used to see ruffles on tops, dresses and skirt, but this fall they slide down to the bottom of your cropped pants.

The new bohemian dress

Go all out feminine with extra trimmings of ruffles to evoke a romantic atmosphere that blends with a sensual vibe. This season unlike the previous one, the dress appears to be more dramatic with rich fabrics and a lot of textures. Our favourite pick is the soft chiffon ruffles gown by Alexander McQueen that brings out gothic tones.

Bag of ruffles

The ruffle mania has spread into the bag category too. If you are not ready to step out of your comfort zone, consider adding some ruffles to a classic bag for a refreshing touch. The 3-D frilly embellishments  gives the handbag an innovative approach, but will not make you look over the top.
