Launching September 13th, Jeremy Scott’s collaboration with UGG Australia is bound to have lovers of his flashy and garish designs as well as lovers of the comfy boot flocking to stores for a chance at scooping up the limited edition boots.

And best of all, most of the shoes come in a perfectly sweet platform style that’s sure to excite the modern club kids of the world.

This is definitely going to be a good year for British brands River Island and Ashish, who are teaming up to launch an affordable collection at London fashion week this fall. The 15 piece limited edition collection seems to be Ashish’s first foray into the mainstream fashion market, but the buzz is already building up, and his colourful and often outspoken designs are bound to sell out worldwide. Spring is finally here and that means no more frigid weather and snow! So with a new season in our hands, I’m sure we will be introduced to a pile of brand new beauty trends, or even a few reoccurring ones. Just like fashion, beauty is always changing and different looks are constantly being brought on by the trendiest makeup artists, and of course by acclaimed celebrities. But if you somehow happened to have missed the latest beauty crazes from last month, I will be giving you a nice recap of a few of my favourites from April and how to achieve each look!

Dewy Skin

This year for Fashion Week, when I had the opportunity to interview MAC Cosmetics makeup artist Jane McKay, she mentioned that the go-to makeup look for the runway was natural with a dewy finish. This makeup technique was very minimal and simple, leaving models with a soft, healthy glow to their skin.

To Achieve This Look: Using any setting spray, I highly recommend the MAC Prep and Prime Fix Plus Setting Spray, apply it to your entire face before starting your makeup, and apply it once again after you have completed your makeup. Using it before will help the product stick to your skin, and also allows your makeup to seep through with that dewy finish. Finally, spraying it on your skin once your makeup is complete, will make everything stay in place.

Blunt Lob Haircut With Beach Waves

blunt lob

I’m not too sure about you, but during cold season I get pretty lazy, especially when it comes to style my hair. A very low maintenance hair look that many celebrities have been sporting is the blunt lob with natural beach waves. “What is a blunt lob?” you may ask. Well it’s a very simple haircut with absolutely no layers. It’s usually cut from collarbone to shoulder length, any shorter then it becomes a bob. The beach waves add a very nonchalant touch to it, making it look effortless but classy.

To Achieve This Look: If you don’t trust yourself with scissors, then you most definitely can get your blunt lob done professionally. If you do trust yourself, then it’s actually quite simple. Grab your hair and put it in a ponytail. Take another hair-tie, and tie it at the end of your ponytail, leaving out about two inches of hair, or wherever your desired lob length may be. Taking your scissors, snip away until all pieces are completely even. Once done, take a beach wave spray, I recommend the L’Oreal Everstyle Texture Series Beach Waves Spray infused with sea salt, and spray it all over your hair. Braid your hair in a few sections, and spray it all over once again. You can leave it like that overnight, or for a couple of hours, but once you take out the braids, you will have the ultimate beach babe hair.

Kylie Lip Kit

The Kardashians are forever in the news with their growing empire, and one member of that clang who isn’t necessarily a Kardashian and more of a Jenner, is slowly building her own dynasty. Kylie Jenner has been winning ever since the release of her lip kits, which includes a lip liner and gloss. However, it can be super hard to get your hands on one of these because they become sold out within seconds! Looking at all the colours, my favourite would probably be True Brown—It’s very universal and suits any skin tone. So here’s a dupe that will help you achieve that true brown look.

To Achieve This Look: Getting this look is easy as pie. Since Kylie’s kits come with the liner and gloss, the liner dupe you’ll want to use is MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Chestnut, and the gloss dupe to try is ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Colour in Limbo. Another nice lip colour you may use overtop of Chestnut is, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Berlin-Medium Warm Brown.

PRICE: Chestnut Lip Liner $20.00; ColourPop Limbo $6.00; NYX Berlin Medium Warm Brown $9.00

Available at:;;

I feel like the art of contour will never fade, but artists are taking it down a notch by giving it a more subtle and natural look—you don’t want a contour that is too chiseled or defined. You also don’t necessarily need a contour kit to slim down your nose, or to define your cheeks. A nice bronzer actually goes a long way.

To Achieve This Look: It’s okay if you don’t have a contour kit handy, especially since they can get quite pricey. To give yourself the same beautiful results, I recommend the Benefits Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer. Not only is the packaging stunning, but it also comes with a soft bristle brush that will give you that perfect contour look. Just simply dust it along your cheekbones, jawline, the edges of your forehead and your nose for a soft, matte finish.
