Ones To Watch: 6 Female Rappers To Put On Your Radar

It seems like it’s been forever since we’ve had a healthy presence of female M.C.s in the Hip Hop game. For almost a decade, Nicki Minaj boasted of being the number one and the only authentic female rapper. But so far in 2016, we’ve been introduced to a couple of women who are worthy of being Nicki’s replacement/competition. Here is a list of 6 new female rappers who I think have the start power to secure mainstream success:

Young M.A

Propelled into success by her hit single Ouuuu,’ Young M.A has been accepted into the industry with remixes from rap royalty members Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma. Listen to Hood Lovea fan favourite from her Sleep Walkin Mixtape from 2015.

Jungle Pussy

My personal fav — there’s definitely something seductive about how Jungle Pussy raps. With recognition from Erykah Badu and Lil’ Kim, she released her debut album Pregnant with Success in November, 2015. Her first video, Spicy103 FM, from the album was released in February of this year.

Dreezy

Signed to Interscope, Dreezy is a definite force to be reckoned with. Lyrically top notch, she released her debut album No Hard Feelings in July. Watch her video We Gon Ride feat. Gucci Mane.

Cardi B

Stripper turned Reality TV star turned rapper, Cardi B is that ratchet diva everyone needs on their iTunes. Originally discovered on Instagram, Cardi has released tracks that have garnered her recognition beyond her spicy personality. Watch Forevaa fan anthem.

Ingrid

This Houston-born rapper is so good she’s signed to Beyonce’s record label, Parkwood Entertainment. Watch her music video Flex feat. Sevyn Streeter. Her debut EP, Trill Feels is out now.

Princess Nokia

There’s something different about Princess Nokia and we love it. First introduced to us with a folky singer sound, she has branched out to rap and has proven that she can do both easily. She released the video for in her single, Tomboy, back in May.
